St. Michael the Archangel Parish & School is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and team-oriented Part-Time Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our parish, school, students, families, staff, and visitors.
Position Details
- Position: Part-Time Custodian (Exempt)
- Schedule: Approximately 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
- Weekend/Event Coverage: Occasional weekend and event coverage required
- Pay: $14.00–$16.50 per hour, commensurate with experience
- Location: 8929 50th Avenue, Remus, MI 49340
About the Position
The Custodian is an important member of our facilities team and is responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned areas of the parish and school campus during evening hours.
The ideal candidate is dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented, diligent, adaptable, and comfortable working around children, families, parishioners, and staff. A positive and respectful attitude and the ability to work independently are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms
- Dusting and wiping surfaces
- Emptying trash and recycling
- Cleaning classrooms, offices, kitchens, gathering spaces, and common areas
- Restocking restroom and cleaning supplies
- Assisting with setup and cleanup for parish and school activities
- Performing seasonal and periodic deep-cleaning tasks
- Safely using cleaning equipment and products
- Reporting maintenance, safety, or facility concerns promptly
- Securing assigned areas when work is completed
- Performing other custodial duties as assigned
Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have reliable transportation
- Be able to follow established cleaning schedules and procedures
- Communicate respectfully and professionally
- Be able to perform the physical requirements of the position
- Successfully complete required diocesan background checks
- A practicing Catholic is desired but not required.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, kneel, reach, crouch, lift and carry supplies and equipment, push and pull custodial equipment, climb stairs, and occasionally use ladders or step stools. Work may take place indoors and outdoors as needed.
